March 24 – End of Suburbia

In the USA suburbia’s promise of space, affordability, family life and upward mobility is embedded in the American consciousness. But as we enter the 21st century, this looks less and less sustainable. With brutal honesty and some irony, The End of Suburbia explores the prospects of the American way of life as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply.

So, what does peak oil mean for the USA? As energy prices skyrocket in the coming years, how will the populations of suburbia react? Are today’s suburbs the slums of tomorrow? And what can be done NOW, individually and collectively, to avoid The End of Suburbia?
